Brief History :
Subtitled "More of the Pure Elvis Sound," Our Memories of Elvis, Volume 2 is the second and final volume of RCA's series of reissues devoted to presenting Elvis Presley recordings minus the overdubs that were originally applied to them. Presley's vocals stand out more prominently, though there are still a few instruments and backup singers present.
But the problem isn't a lack of purity, it's a lack of quality. The album's highlight is a previously unreleased long version of Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right," running over eight and a half minutes. But that isn't enough to make this album essential, nor did it seem so upon release, when the LP sold poorly, leading to the discontinuation of the series.
